Danise’s pregnancy wasn’t going well. She was so sick she kept missing work--a serious crisis for a family living on a single paycheck. She fell behind on rent...and suddenly she and her three sons were homeless.

 

 

     Because of the support of friends like you, we could offer Danise and her children a place in the Fresh Start program. Not only does the family have a place to stay, but a place to grow with each new day of hope. While Danise takes classes to learn how to manage money and keep a job, her boys are thriving at school. “My kids were so excited about all the stuff they got for school. They have the whole supplies list! This year was the first year they had everything they need.”

 

     Danise says her favorite part of her day at MRM is Bible study. “Now I can really understand the Bible,” she says. “I used to just read what they told us to, but now even when I am done with my work I continue to read. It really does have answers for me.” The children are learning about God’s love for them as well. “They’re learning a lot, and we share a lot of what we’re learning. Even my three-year-old prays now. He puts his head down and I can hear his little ‘Amen.’”

 

 

     In her Fresh Start classes, Danise learned to confront her deepest problem. “I was hurt as a child, and it was hard for me to forgive,” she admits. Now she glows with hope as she says, “But now through prayer, I’m learning to forgive the people who hurt me. I don’t have to hold onto things anymore. I’m letting God lead and change my heart. Even my aunt sees real change in me.” As she overcomes the pain that’s held her back for so long, Danise sees a very different, very exciting future ahead!

 

     After Danise completes the Fresh Start program, she wants to go back to school to finish her degree in criminal justice. “I’m motivated, I’ve got new opportunities!” she says. Your compassion has given her the opportunity to develop the skills she needs to take care of her children and herself, both physically and spiritually. Your contribution to Days of Hope will help more women like Danise find a bright future for their families, one day at a time!
